Resume
Submissions
Resumes may be sent to S L Collins Associates, Inc. via fax or
as an e-mail attachment (preferred) or by copying and pasting your
resume into the body of an e-mail. Your resume will not be forwarded
to any individual or company without your prior knowledge and approval.
ELECTRONICALLY
(preferred method):
We prefer that resumes be sent as an attachment to an email or
from our Registration Page. Completing
the questionnaire and submitting your resume via our Registration
Page will provide us with all of the information we need to identify
appropriate opportunities that will interest you. We use
Microsoft Word 2002 (Office XP) which recognizes most other word
processing documents. If you prefer not to complete the questionnaire,
click here to send us your resume via e-mail (with your last name
in the subject line): Resume@slcollins.com
FAX:
Please do not fax your resume if this can be avoided.
We prefer to have all resumes in electronic format to allow keyword
searching in our database. Faxed resumes are scanned into our
database. Our scanners are not perfect, and sometimes keywords
are missed, and formatting errors result.
MAIL:
Please do not mail resumes unless no other means are available.
Suggestions
for Resume Writing:
When
listing phone numbers on your resume, please indicate if those numbers
are home, work, cell, etc. Also, we are discrete (we always
ask first if it is a good or bad time to talk) when calling work
numbers, but please do not list a work number if we should not call
you at work. If your voice mail is not confidential,
please let us know that.
Obtain
an email account that you will keep with you throughout your career
as you change employers (examples of free email accounts:
@yahoo.com, @hotmail.com, etc.).
Avoid
blatantly unprofessional email addresses and include your email
address on your resume (in addition to the standard phone
and address information).
Include
dates of employment on your resume and include dates for each position
held.
Include
your duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments under each title
and company. (Resume readers, i.e. the hiring company, want
to be able to quickly tell if a specific skill set was applied in
1998 or 1968)
Obtain
the latest virus detection software and keep it updated.
Don’t
use flashing animation, or cursive fonts that are difficult to read.
Use
your word processor’s SPELLCHECK feature.
We hope these tips have been helpful. Thank you for utilizing the
services of S L Collins Associates, Inc. We are looking forward
to assisting you in your job search.
