Scientist / Sr. Research Associate, #1353   (3/4 open positions)

POSITION SUMMARY
Our client company an innovative company focused on gene editing and genetic engineering of human cells for immunotherapy. We are seeking a highly motivated, hardworking Scientist or Sr. Research Associate to join their preclinical/process development team.  The ideal candidate will have experience with lentiviral/retroviral vector production, primary cell culture, in vitro cell-based functional assays to evaluate engineered T cell cytotoxicity.   Experience with flow cytometry is required.     

LOCATION:   Bay area - the general area of Redwood City, Palo Alto, Mountain View (some relocation assistance provided)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Primary immune cells isolation, activation, transduction, expansion and cryopreservation.

  • Primary T cells phenotyping and in vitro cell-based functional assay using flow cytometry and xCELLigence/RTCA

  • Collaborate with scientists and other RAs to design, execute and troubleshoot experiments.

  • Independently analyze, interpret and present data to the team.

  • Highly organized, detailed documentation of experimental procedures.


Requirements

  • MS or Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology or a related discipline.

  • Minimum 2-years relevant laboratory experience in academia or industry.

  • Strong communication and data presentation skills required.

  • Strong sense of responsibility, accountability, and integrity

  • Mammalian cell culture and aseptic techniques are essential. Experience with primary human immune cells culture is preferred.

  • Experience with multi-color flow cytometry is strongly preferred.

  • Experience with viral vector production is a plus.

  • Exposure to process development of cell therapy production, including T cells, and/or cGMP manufacturing is preferred.

  • Experience with in vitro cytotoxic assay (chromium release, luciferase assay, or xCELLigence/RTCA) and ELISA is preferred.

  • Experience with vector production is a plus.


Preferred Additional Skills

  • Proficiency in data Analysis using Prism, Excel, or equivalent is required

  • Proficiency in using office software such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to generate reports and presentation is required.

  • Experience using flow analysis software (flowjo, kaluza and cytoexpert) and interpretation of flow cytometry data is preferred.

  • Ability to thrive within and contribute to a collaborative, supportive, fast-paced team environment
