POSITION SUMMARY                                 (New Position)

The Plant Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of a sterile products manufacturing facility.  The role provides daily leadership to the company’s Purchasing, Materials, Production, and Distribution operations, operational project planning, fulfillment of GMP development and production orders as well as other support functions in compliance with applicable GMP regulations. The Plant Manager also works collaboratively with other Business Units to scope, plan, and execute new business opportunities.


Operational and Financial Performance

  • Responsible for the start-up and expansion of a new sterile products facility

  •  Direct and manage plant operations for procurement, receiving, materials management, production, product inventory, and shipping

  •  Coordinate plant activities through the planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.

  •  Develop and control profits, plans, and budget in conjunction with/supervision from Director of Operations

  • Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, and wages

  • Establish key metrics to monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards

  • Control and minimize labor overtime, shipping and maintenance expenses

  • Coordinate with Engineering to maintain existing plant facilities and equipment; replace, or make adjustments to plant facilities and equipment when necessary

  • Incorporates facility organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel

  • Collaborate with Environmental Health and Safety to implement and maintain a safe environment in compliance with applicable Occupation Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations

  • Works with department managers to ensure that every step of the manufacturing process is followed meticulously and effectively

  • Manages the end to end manufacturing process by maximizing production, minimizing risk, and responding to strategy or market changes effectively and efficiently

  •  Actively looks for opportunities to improve cost, quality, and throughput

  •  Builds comprehensive financial reports



  • Optimizes processes and ensures sufficient controls and measures for process consistency

  • Inspires employees to strive to meet quality expectations

  • Facilitates cross-functional communication to enable adaptability between teams and departments

  •  Ensures that staff adheres to all policies and practices established by the organization and government regulations

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Operations Management or a related field

  • 15 years or more experience managing regulated operations.    Sterile products experience will be a definite plus

  •  Functional knowledge of GMP operations and related U.S. FDA Regulations

  • Ideally, have experience in the preparation for FDA Audits and the execution of those audits 

  • Results and action orientation, with strong metrics analysis abilities

  • Good understanding of the business and the ability to incorporate a strategic vision into a tactical application

  • Self-reliant in determining priorities and setting schedule to meet goals and objectives

  • Good negotiation skills

  • Previous senior leadership decision making
